BELLS OF IRELAND
The bells of Ireland (Moluccella laevis) originated in Turkey, Syria and the Caucasus. This flower, which represents luck, is generally one meter high. It has toothed leaves and thorny stems. It belongs to the family of mint and is resistant to most diseases and pests.
It has a unique appearance, grows and stands upright. It has been cultivated since 1570 and belongs to the summer flowers that grow all year round in Ecuador. It has tiny white flowers that are surrounded by green calyxes. It has a distinctive aroma that is difficult to describe.
Ideal for use in fresh or dried floral arrangements. It was named after Linnaeus, who named the species after the Moluccan Islands in Indonesia. The association with Ireland is probably made by its colour and the marketing potential associated with it.
